Korean and English, face to face

Every poem is printed in English with the Korean original beside it, so a reader can follow the sounds and word choices of the source while reading the translation. Footnotes explain the places, Korean terms and other references in the poems, which return again and again to the foods, drinks and seasonal feasts of a rural Korea before there was a North or a South.

Choi Joongwon’s artwork runs through the book in blue and white. An introduction, a biographical timeline and a list of the onomatopoeia Baek Seok used so often complete the edition.
